Port Elizabeth - Addo
Hired a car today and drove one hour north to Addo National Park -- aka Elephant World.  Got breakfast (toastie cheese sandwich) and dinner (cheesy vegetables) in the local gas station to and from the park.  Spent 6 hours in the park and had a great time doing my own thing. Ended up costing exactly the same as if I had taken a guided tour except that I had the flexibility of staring at any animal for as long as I wanted.

Shot the following exciting animals...
Elephants (not a challenge)
Ostrich (ditto)
Burchell’s Zebra (3 of them)

Warthogs (numerous)

Yellow Mongoose (BONUS) It would bolt at the sound of a car.
I was patient enough to wait for it to come out again and got to watch it eat a bug.

Bokmakierie (yellow and green bird who sings its name)

Pied Kingfish
Pied Kingfisher

Egyptian Goose (we have those in Florida too)
Kudu (big antelope)
Eland (even bigger antelope)

Leopard tortoise (not as big as galapagos, but pretty big)

Flightless dung beetles (they have the right of way on the road)

The weather was very nice.  Sunny through out the afternoon and not very cold.

Sunbird spotted from car driving to Addo

Came back to PE (Port Elizabeth) to find it windy and cold.
Off tomorrow at 7am to Coffee Bay -- another 7 hr bus ride.
